The Mt Moss Operation is a strategic processing and exploration asset supporting Sunshine Metals’ pathway to gold production in North Queensland.
Sunshine completed the acquisition of 100% of Mt Moss in July 2026. Located approximately 100km west of Townsville, the operation contains an existing 300ktpa grinding circuit that Sunshine plans to refurbish and convert into a gold processing facility through the addition of leaching, elution and refining components.
The existing infrastructure includes two ball mills, a tailings storage facility with available capacity and expansion potential, a 32-room accommodation camp, mess facilities, a mobile fleet workshop, offices, a core shed, a large laydown yard and critical spares. The site also contains sufficient space for the proposed gold circuit.
Mt Moss is intended to provide a processing pathway for high-grade gold and silver ore from Sunshine’s Liontown deposit, located approximately 220km from the operation. Subject to the completion of refurbishment, construction, final permitting and funding activities, Sunshine is targeting first processing of Liontown ore in mid-2027.
The operation is also located approximately 25km from Sunshine’s Sybil epithermal gold project and provides an operational base for exploration across the emerging gold field. The Mt Moss tenure contains the eastern extension of the highly prospective Sybil Graben, giving Sunshine control of approximately 10km of strike across the prospective epithermal gold belt.
Mt Moss contains an approximately 4km-long magnetite-copper-zinc skarn system. Historical exploration and mining largely focused on magnetite iron ore, leaving the project’s copper and zinc potential comparatively underexplored. Historical drilling on the margins of the magnetite system returned significant intersections including 19.9m at 4.41% Cu from 367.8m and 13.0m at 3.78% Cu from 282.0m. Shallow zinc intersections include 30.0m at 12.04% Zn from 26.0m and 12.0m at 19.09% Zn from 78.0m.
The broader Mt Moss tenure is also prospective for gold, silver, copper, zinc, tin, tungsten and bismuth. Many of the regional prospects were historically mined between approximately 1890 and 1930 but have received limited modern exploration.
The acquisition of Mt Moss gives Sunshine control of existing processing infrastructure and provides a strategic link between Liontown, Sybil and the Company’s broader North Queensland exploration portfolio.
